I bought my 91TT almost exactly one year ago with 180,000 miles.

Besides the mods listed in my profile I did my best to refrain from spending too much money on it since I did not know the condition of the motor.

So on to the test:

I drove the Z until it was completely up to normal temps and then followed that with a timing check to verify it was at 15 degrees btdc.

I did however forget to keep the tb's at WOT but I remember reading somewhere that having the balance tube off was good enough...at least I can guess that my numbers would only be higher with the tb's properly open.
Also, I did not disconnect the CAS as I have a kill switch on the fuel pump relay that I used instead( am I right in thinking that the purpose of disconnecting the CAS is to prevent the injectors from dumping fuel into the cylinders?)

Anyways:

5: 140 6: 140
3: 140 4: 140
1: 144 2: 146

Id like to start doing some major maintenance on the z including some mild mods. These mod's most likely will include:

New chra's for my stockers.
SZ 3" dp's and 3" to 2.5" tp's.
DeatschWerks adapters and 740cc injectors.
Dual intake
EBC
ECU reprogram(Not Ash...but not sure who)

Things I all ready have but yet to install:
Z1 IC's
XTD Stage 5 FE clutch and fidanza flywheel

I know the compression readings are within the FSM’s acceptable range but would like to hear your opinions on my planned modifications. Too much?
Also, I plan on doing most of the common “deletes” (AIV, EGR, Carbon canister, TB water bypass, PRVR). I have not pulled a Z engine yet and besides oil changes and a 60k maintenance on my NA I do not have a lot of experience around these engines. My question is: for a Z noob like my self would you recommend I perform the deletes before I pull the engine, while the engines out, or after everything is re-installed?

Sorry if this sounds really stupid to you more experienced. I just want to eliminate as many chances of possible confusion as I can.

In anticipation of my upcoming work and with a little inspiration from a thread two days ago I decided to go grab some tools I will be needing. I just bought my first home a few weeks ago. Up until then I have always lived in a apartment or at home( I’m 23 years old). As a result I have performed all work on both my Z’s at either my Father’s house or friend’s house and have never needed to own any of these tools.

I spent a few hours yesterday putting them together. My cars looking nervous…

Someday...

I still need to pick up some torque wrenches but I am very undecided. I had my eye on the Digitork 3/8 and ½ inch wrenches that sears sells but they have very bad reviews. Does anyone have any personal experience with them or recommendations for a different set?

All right, thanks for reading. That is all for now.
